CHAN CHAN (TRUJILLO, PERU)

The amazing archeological city of Chan Chan is located a few miles outside the city of Trujillo. The valley in which it is known as the Valley of Moche, and in terms of importance, Chan Chan among the most prominent historical sites throughout Peru. The ruins of Chan Chan are scattered over a wide area, and there are four sites you visit. Getting from one place to another can be done on foot or by adopting a series of taxi rides. If you decide to walk the ruins, it's a good idea to stick to the main access roads, as some lone visitors have reported criminal activity in the area. Despite the ruins found here are not exactly seem as full as some of the high Inca ruins as Machu Picchu, Chan Chan, however, is a real treatment to explore. Dr Chan Chan was the center of the Chimu empire, and is the largest pre-Columbian adobe city known to have existed on the continent.

The Chimu empire, which is also known as the Kingdom of Chimore, flourished roughly between the years 850 AD and 1470 AD. Saw him extend his reach some 600 kilometers from Lima on the north coast of Peru. The Chimu empire was the largest kingdom around what is called the Late Intermediate Period, with about two thirds of the Andean peoples. The Chimu people were very influenced by the surrounding cultures, such as those in Cajamarca and the Huari. In 1493, the Chimu conquest was far from complete. It is interesting to note that, unlike the Incas, who revered the sun perhaps more than anything else, the Chimu people worshiped the moon instead. It is his belief that the sun only destroying things, it's easy to understand if one takes into account the desert environment that characterizes the region. The Chimu are perhaps best known for its ceramics, which can represent some pretty racy scenes, and by their ability to work metal.

Chan Chan Trujillo Tours are sufficiently abundant, and if you choose to visit the ruins with a guide, can greatly enhance their understanding of the ruins. If you think you would like to address the ruins on your own, be advised that you bring some sort of guide, as you are sure to get curious from time to time. Among the ruins of Chan Chan, you can expect to see a series of towns in ruins and temples pyramid walls and robust defense. Other features include parking, housing, and a royal cemetery, among others. Intricate carvings, some realistic and some stylized, yet can be found among the adobe walls of the ruins of Chan Chan, many of whom are living very much influenced by the nearby ocean. It is believed by some scholars that 30000-50000 people live in Chan Chan, with a likely change according to season. The main compound at Chan Chan were reserved for the nobility and commoners were likely prohibited from entering them.

If you only have a small window of time to explore the ruins of Chan Chan, the current head directly to the main complex, known as the Tschudi Palace. Is the name of a Swiss explorer, and the fact that it has been restored to some extent, it is easier to understand than are the other compounds 8 reales. The Palace Tschudi probably housed between 500 and 1,000 people noble, and her yard is one of the best places to observe Chimu friezes. The best beaches in Peru are located along the northern coast, with few good options to the extent that the capital city of Lima. Trujillo hotels should be enough to stay close to Chan Chan, and several beach cities have hostels and hotels to choose from, too.
